Choosing the correct pressure washer can a little bit tricky for some people and in this blog I will try to provide information that will make it much easier to choose the correct machine.

Homeowner vs. Commercial pressure washers:

Although two machines may look alike that doesn’t mean that they are the same. The number one rule to remember is that you get what you pay for. The cheaper the machine is priced, the cheaper it is made. Most people would be surprised to learn that a lot of homeowner machines are only made for about 40 hours of use. The quality of components that go into the machine are of much lesser quality than it’s commercial counterpart. This isn’t to say that a homeowner machine isn’t right for you. However if you plan on using the machine frequently it might not last how you would like it and it would be better for you to spend a little more money on a machine that is made to last a lot longer.

Pros and Cons of Homeowner machines:

The biggest and really the only pro to a homeowner machine is the price. They often sell extremely cheap at big department stores and commercial machines can not come close to the selling price.

There are a few cons to these machines though. The biggest one being quality. The quality of the homeowner pressure washer is much lower than a commercial machine. The next biggest con would be the service. It is often hard to find someone that services or repairs homeowner style machines. The reason for this is that a lot of the manufacturers price the repair kits and replacement components so high that it makes more sense to buy a new machine. They do this because they would rather sell a new machine than a seal kit or new pump. The next biggest con of a homeowner machine is finding someone that is informed about the product that can help you pick out the best machine for your needs. For example if you go to a big departent store looking for a pressure washer the chances are that the sales staff is not very informed on the equipment and will not be of much help.

Is a homeowner machine right for you?

If you only plan on using the machine once or twice a year on relatively light cleaning jobs than a homeowner machine would probably suite you just fine. However don’t be surprised if you use it often and it doesnt’ last how you think it should.

Pros and Cons of commercial pressure washers:

Commercial pressure washers are a tool that meets much higher quality standards than it’s homeowner counterpart. The quality of parts and components that go into these machines are much higer and will last alot longer.

The biggest pro of a commercial machine is the quality. The only con of these machines is the price. However when you look at the price in the proper context it will actually end up saving you money and time in a relativley short time period depending on how often you use it. Often times the commercial machine is not very much more than it’s counterpart depending the size of the engine, pump, etc.

Is a commercial machine right for you?

If you plan on using the machine frequently than yes. The quality is much higher and it will last longer. You will be much more satisfied with a commercial machine.

Summary:

Ifyou have any doubts about what machine to buy, find someone that is in the business of selling these machines and ask them what they think will work best for you. Chances are they are knowledgable about what they are selling and they can point you in the right direction. Even if it is through the internet I would send them a message or call them asking for information. I think that most companies would be receptive to your inquirys and if they aren’t than they must not need your business that bad and it may wise to shop somewhere else.

I know that for me an my business personally I welcome customers that are trying to be better informed. A customer that is informed is a customer that is happier and better satisfied.

Thank you for reading the blog and I hope that information in it is helpful. Have a great day.
